Looking to pick up a mora for yard work, fishing etc... Etc.. I noticed that there is a bushcraft blade, regular blade sandvik and high carbon.

In use outside of rust are there any differences between the 1095 version and sandvik that I might need to know a out before picking one up?

I was doing yard work this weekend and raised it would be easier to just have something on my belt.

Hi,

I personally don't see much difference between carbon and stainless blades. My philosophy is a knife that gets used won't rust.:p But I prefer plain carbon myself. Most of you younger guys like the stainless models, and it's hard to fault that. I do not think you can go wrong no matter which model or steel you choose.

I've only had the carbon ones, but have read the Sandvik stainless are quite similar. I believe the stainless are a couple of points lower on the hardness scale: http://www.moraofsweden.se/steel-quality

One thing: it is common for some BF folks to talk up the "Robust" version, which have a thicker blade (3mm vs 2mm). These folks belong to the "more is more" crowd. I'd stick with the standard thickness blade for all-around use. It's still plenty sturdy, and the thinner blade will slice more easily. Less is more.

I have had the Mora 711 for several years on outdoor work / building lot as my standart tool. It worked great, but I finally lost it somewhere. It was of plain carbon steel (I don´t think they use 1095).

Dogstar is right about the blade thickness. I don´t care so much for the blade thickness. A bag of concrete can be opened with most of any blades. ;)

A few more mora threads cropped up by newbie mora owners I'm going to track them a bit before ordering a few!
