For years I've been using Timberland Montgomery Bay Oxfords as my go to dress show.

However, since getting a job that allows jeans, I've grown very accustom to my Merrell Sights

The Sights are wonderfully comfortable and I love them.

However, as all good things must come to an end, I wish to dress up a bit more for work. Slacks and a button down shirt, sometimes a polo, sometimes a tie.

Now my ideal show would be the oxfords with the comfort of the sights. I'm really open to any options. Price isn't an issue, but over $225 they better be damn good shoes.

I would prefer laced shoes, Vibram soles if it can be managed. I actually like the look of the Dr. Martens Hardlife 3 lace, but I'm not sure the translucent sole would go over well.

Unless you are in a pretty strict business environment, those Docs will look at home with jeans or with a tie. I have a few different styles of DM's and wear them with everything. And the comfort is hard to beat.

Those Doc Martens are great buys. They will last for years. Comfy too.

I have the Timberland Oxfords above for work, but I am looking to pick up that same pair of Doc Martens for work. I'm not a skater or punk etc, but I am a big guy. My Docs have always supported me, whether working retail or in an office setting as I am now. I see nothing wrong with the soles.

Yep, Docs are my next pickup as well. After years of buying light hikers (lately it's been Keen Voyagers), I'm fed up with the flimsy construction. I'm hard on my shoes, even though I work indoors (hospital), and I go through about a pair every 8-12 months. I love the lifetime guarantee on the Docs, and it's been a while since I had a pair. Their product line has expanded just a bit since I last wore them (1980's)!

Docs rule! Just FYI, not all DMs are guaranteed for life, just a select line within their selection of shoes and boots.

Those that are covered "for life" are marked as such right on the sole.

This is true. Guess I've always bought ones that are guaranteed, so I just take it for granted. My bad...

If your worried about the translucent sole you could probably apply some edge finisher for shoes to them. Should be able to find it near the shoe polish.

If you're in the city, check out Alden Shoes in mid-town. They are pricey, but they're classic and the quality is outstanding.

then just hit them with a little Kiwi and a brush. You'll be good to go!

Edge dressing will flake and crack.

ah to heck with it all. Spoil yourself and get some NewRocks also ShaSha makes a damn fine creeper, and so does NYLA.

If you want some comfortable oxfords, check out Cole Haan. They use "Nike Air" in their shoes and are extremely comfy.

Here's the ones I own

The offical NR site isn't that great. I normally go through Fashion Nation out of Denver (vixens and angels.com)

I can't wear those to work, no matter how comfortable they are.
