Hey all.

I have a couple Miguron Velona folders…not an expensive knife, but I was surprised how nice they are and more so by how much I’d like them.
I have the LARGE models with the 4” blade.

What really adds to my enjoyment of them is the ability to “flick” them open quickly with my middle finger in the groove at the top edge of the blade. I understand that many in the knife world refer to this as the “Spydie Flick” after Spider-Man, I’m guessing. It enables me to open this knife as fast or fast than a good auto side opener. Now I want to find other knives like this.

Would you mind suggestion some other knives that have the same characteristics that allow this option for opening?

I would like knives with blades in the 3.75” to 4” or slightly more. Don’t want to get too crazy. This will be an EDC knife. I’m not picky about types of steel. I would like to stay at $100 and under.

Any help or suggestions you care to give will be appreciated. Thank you for your time everyone.

Have a good one!

Microtech MSI is surprisingly large, makes the Socom feel small in hand, and completely mogs XM-18/Eklypse. I'm not usually a spydie flick guy, but on the MSI I've found its pretty comfortable.

Spyderco Military 2. It hits all of your requirements except for the price. I've had one since Christmas. It's hard to believe but I think its an improvement over the original Military which is a legendary classic.

Spyderco Resilience?
4.2", around 70 bucks or so.

The spidi-flick comes from the popular method of opening Spyderco knives 😊

If you get lucky with the ebay auctions, you can sometimes get the Twosun TS329 Vandal at just within your price range. I'm not big on Spydieflicking my Spyderco knives like some people are, but I've found it's the quickest and most reliable way to open this particular knife since my middle finger rests perfectly in the blade fuller. The blade is 4" long but the slim profile and heavy skeletonization inside the handle make it carry very easily. It's an impressive value even at the full $200 retail IMO; you get titanium handles with a machined clip and backspacer, M390 steel, carbon fiber handle inserts, multirow bearings, and proprietary pivot with T8 fasteners all around.

I was interested in this knife but keep getting outbid. I'm going to need you to cool it with this recommendation for awhile so I have less competition 😁

There may be something to that; I started losing auctions on their kitchen knives right after I recommended them a couple times on the forums. I'll try to contain my excitement lol

I highly recommend a Police 4. Should be able to find one used in your budget. K390 over VG10 if possible. I have several and use regularly. Very slicey and more than tough enough for regular knife tasks. Also, they flick great - probably nothing better than a Spydie hole for that. However, I use my index finger to flick. Not sure why so many use the middle finger, especially when they're struggling with it. Pull it out of your pocket and your index finger is in the correct location and middle finger can hold on to the handle. Middle finger flick feels wierd and looks wierd.
