Hello all,

I would like to get some suggestions for a gentleman's folder that I would like to give my boss when I leave next month. He isn't into knives, but nonetheless I would like to find something that isn't likely to be seen at local Wal Mart's or hunting supply stores. My budget is $150.00, and I would like to find something that is pocketable, but not tiny -- something like the size of my William Henry carbon fiber Lancet. I would just get him a Lancet, but I think the price has climbed over the $150 level.

As always, your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

regards,

Phillip, you can get the Benchmade 850 for $169 at the knife center... <a href="http://store.knifecenter.com/pgi-CustomListProducts?Benchmade%20Mel%20Pardue%20Designer%20Liner%20Locks,2,16,=,bm,&,60,=,pard">Click here</a>

Good Luck!

The AG Russel damascus that Senator linked to beats the BM's as an impressive gift, if not as a using knife. The BM's, especially the Pardue, are quite good. I carry a BM Pardue myself as a Gent's. But the Russell looks mighty good, and the price is also very good. I'm tempted to buy one myself.

I recently had to do a similar search for a friend of mine for his boss. BM's were never a consideration, the AGRussell, damascus/quince, was my first suggestion, (that Senator has very good taste). Just as alternate suggestions, you may want to consider one of DeltaZ's knives; http://www.estoremanager.com/deltazkniv-118/product.asp?ProductID=144206
If you would consider something real special, but not a 'Gent's' knife, take a look at Buck's Custom Shop 110's. I can't think of a nicer gift.

Have you considered a Spydercard with an engraving? It is very tasteful and the total (depending on the engraving) will probably run about $50.00. He can keep it in his wallet, put it ot use, and still have a fond memory.

No contest. Get a Spyderco Howard Viele. The micarta handle is very classy and very comfortable in the hand. The Viele is the slickest production folder I've ever handled, it definately has the "banana peel on linoleum" action. Furthermore, I've heard that it is a real workhorse. Take a look at the Viele and try to get your hands on one to test it out--you'll like it and I'm sure your boss will too!

It retails at $150 but you can get it at toptexknives for under $100 or 1stopknifeshop for a little more.

Along the same lines of Smithd who suggested a Spydercard; how about either a CRKT KISS, or PECK? How about the polished KISS Classic with the red CRKT logo?

They are a less "lethal-looking" gift as other blades, as they are marketed to double as a money clip. Even high-falootin' fashion designers, like Paul Smith, are jumping on the band-wagon and sticking their names on knife/money clips.

You can engrave it as suggested by smithd, or stick a token dollar on it.
