Need suggestions on a few minor Commander issues.

First, I'm not bashing. I've got a couple of problems with an EKI knife, I tried to e-mail them with it, didn't get a response. So I'm gonna ask you guys instead, since you all seem to be pretty avid do-it-yourselfers when it comes to this stuff... I've heard that the QC problems have been dealt with, did I maybe just get an older 2k Commander, or do you guys not consider these "problems?"

None of these are VITAL issues, but they are enough to make me carry a different knife, and I'd rather not do that since I really, really like the design of the Commander. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

A) The handle scales stick out over the titanium liners in a spot or two. Just a bit, but enough to irritate me.

B) When the knife is closed, it's got up and down blade play -- clicks and moves if you push down on the spine.

I'mn not going to bother mentioning the finish on the screws, because you'd expect that kind of problem... I would've expected it to hold up longer than a couple of days, though. Still, that one doesn't much bother me.

So any ideas? Is this stuff "normal"?

Emerson Knives really takes care of its customers James, send the knife back to them. I sent in my Commander (suffering from a broken lock, a horribly dull blade and torn up paintless screws) and they sent be back a knife that I thought was brand new- thats how good it looked. Only about a week or so turnaround time. The shocking part was the only thing I asked them to do was fix the lock, they did everything else on their own at their own cost. The lady that answers the phone was really polite and helpful to boot. I was so impressed by the way I was treated I called them up after I recieved the knife and thanked the man that answered the phone. I guarantee that your knife will be performing the way you want it to, write them a note and drop it in the mail freind.

James:

Chris hit it 'Bang-on'. Try calling them again, they're probably very busy around the shop. I've had telephone dealings with both Peggy and Derek and they were both very helpful. I'm sure they'll be able to direct you to get your knife in working order to your satisfaction.

Good luck. :)
