Here's the rear tang stamp from two different stag hunters that are otherwise identical. What do you think it all means? Were they Club knives for different years? Maybe one of these were part of the set they had with a single blade hunter?
Thanks in advance,

Here's the help site:

http://www.kabar.com/customer-service#&panel1-4

from that site it says:

If the blade of your knife is marked with a four-digit code, you may be able to find it on the list http://www.kabar.com/content/files/Historical_Knife_Pricing.pdf. If you can't find a product code, we may be able to help you identify your knife using photos. Please shoot both sides of the blade, note any unique markings, measurements, etc, and send it to info@ka-bar.com. Please allow a couple weeks for a response... sometimes these things are really tough to pinpoint.

Thanks for the info Druid  I sent the pics to the kabar.com link. I'll post their answer when I get it.
The Ka-Bar collectors Club knives sticky has some pics that look close but a little too blurry to make out the tang stamps.

Don't bother with contacting KA-BAR. The knife in question is not an original Union Cut Co. dog's head knife. It is a re-issue by KA-BAR dated nov. 1977. It is easy to tell the modern dog's heads from the originals, the modern dog looks angry, the originals don't. They were nice and put the X11/77 on the back of the tang so unscrupulous sellers couldn't advertise them as original pre WW2 knives.

Understood as far as era. My question was why the different tang stamps. Using your example, X11/77 being Nov. 1977 then X1/77 must be Jan. 1977.
Thanks for the info.

Wazu013, gunsil has it correct 1st run so popular that they went to V111/78 original run of a Thousand sold out quick and hence more runs to a total of 3000 of each single blade and double blade, original purchase price for club members 35 dollars for the single, 40 dollars for the Double, hope that answers your question nice knives
