Ok guys, i posted accidentally in the gadgets forum, i think they deleted it. Posted in general just to get a feel for the 130$ category but not necessarily from spyderco. Now i'm hooked after looking at them. I want to get a spyderco! So i like G-10, carbon fiber and stainless. I'd really like a cf knife though. I was looking at the caly3 cf but it's hard to find. I like the military, delica(owned but returned it), endura, sage, caly3, para-military, D'allara drop point(handled it at store years ago), native and that's all i can think of right now. I need some sound advice. I want this one to be my EDC for years. Around 3" for a blade length, overall length i don't care. I want a really good steel, all i've worked with for "good" was benchmades 154cm. I sharpen on a sharpmaker so steel type is no problem, i've sharpened a tom mayo tnt from pretty dull to sharp haha. I like the delica's blade shape, but the military is also no problem. I'll get the military if highly recommended, but the para is more my size. But i'll take your guys advice! If you have any other questions to ask to help me out, feel free i'll check back often. Thanks.

If you're right handed, the CF/Walker lock Sage is easy to find for under that and is an extremely well built and well finished knife. Steel is CPM S30V, which most folks would rate better than 154CM and the CF they're using on it has a texture which adds grip without hiding the pattern of the CF.

Can you rate from best to worst in terms of opinion these knives. Caly3 CF, Military, Delica, Endura, Paramilitary, sage, Native, D'allara. I do a lot of fishing (will use to cut string), hunting (not skinning), camping, hiking, outdoors use, household use, cardboard, tape, zip tie and blister pack opening, wood shaving and some rope cutting. I want strictly plain edge though. As i stated before under 130, lock doesn't matter, like carbon fiber & g10 but will settle with stainless. Really like the cf though. And i'd like to be able to adjust the pivot, knife disassembly is nice but not a deal breaker.

What you're going to be using it for. I find that a Military or Para cover the broadest set of uses exceptionally well.

How is tip strength and edge retention? Sharpenability? Can it get dirt in it and keep functioning? Surive working in rain or water and not rust in a few hours? Survive falls? If i get a military or sorts ill get black blade digi camo. I like the look. I like the shape of the caly3, sage and delica. I would probably go with the para-military between the two. How's that lock?

The tip might look fragile, but I've never broken it. Edge retention is great, not hard to sharpen, dirt / dust / water all fine. I have never had rust issues with it.

The compression lock on the Para is great. I haven't had any issues with it.

How does it rate with the sage or caly3? More robust, less?

I'd rate it as more robust, though that's pretty subjective. If you like tip down carry you might like the Caly3 more, but then again with the Military you get a bigger blade and a easier to clean design.

well i really like my paramilitary. it is a great knife and my current EDC. the only thing i didnt like about it was the pocket clip. so i got another one.

P-Mil will not let you down.

However the Manix2 should also be considered, it's a tank. It can be had for $80 online.

I'm trying to stay within ZDP-189 and S30V or S90V. I want this to be one of those don't need to buy for a while (how many times have i said that to myself...) knives with a great steel that i can both count on and invest the money into. This will be the last hoorah for a while since i need to start banking money for other things, so i want to get it right the first time. I haven't found a knife i've been confident in in a long time.

Did you check the bay? For the Caly 3 zdp-189 that is. If you can spend $1 more than you are in luck.

For Carbon Fiber, check out these two:

Spyderco Sage 1
Spyderco Native 4 (discontinued, but can be found for $100)

For 'metal' handled kives, check out these:
Spyderco Titanium Military
Spyderco Sage 2

If you don't mind exotic steel (ZDP189):
Spyderco Caly 3 ZDP
Spyderco Stretch ZDP

PM coming -- it's available at one of the online shoppes that gets good reviews here.

The Caly 3 is a great knife -- I love mine, and have no need for a larger folder. If I need something bigger, I would go to a fixed blade, anyway.
