Need to get a Torx 8 bit for my Manix, would like to have a Torx 10 bit for some of my other folders. Been looking high and low for a T8, no luck, anybody have any suggestions?

Just to amend my request, looking at brick and mortar stores. Nothing at Wally World, Home Depot, True Value, haven't checked Lowes yet, will check Pep Boys and Snap On Tools.

Home Depot has them, not in the main tool section, but in the precision tool section with the general stuff. They are little switch bit screwdrivers with three double end bits in them including a T8....might have a T10 also, I am not sure right now. I know they have a T6, T5, and T4 though. They are either Husky or Rigid brand and cost 6 or 8 bucks each. Benchmade "blue box" might also have what you need, I don't own one, but I do own a few benchmades that I have used my little torx drivers on (but I didn't bother looking at the bit number). Victorinox swisschamp xlt has a small double ended torx bit that fits the manix screws also (just used mine on my manix a couple of days ago to tighten up one of the grip screws)

Try Ace- I got a mini driver set with 18? interchangable bits for around $20. It has everything I have needed for knives. I think it was made by General tools.

Go to Home Depot and get the Husky 8-in-1 Precision Screwdriver - Torx
Model 74502. It's cheap and it rocks. You get T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, T9, T10, T15

The BM Blue Box is rather poorly made--I would go with the Husky Torx driver set. You can find them at the Home Depot online site if you can't find them locally. I didn't believe the people who said that the Blue Box was crap, but turns out that they were right. It took very little pressure to deform mine. It's possible that they addressed this (bought mine years ago), but I'd say that the $6 Husky is a much better buy. Also, if you're looking for higher end, I've heard nothing but good things about Wiha.

I have the torx set Buzzbait showed. It really IS a good deal! MUCH better made in my opinion than the BM box. Its not even more convenient than the BM box. The Wiha sets are VERY nice I must say, but if you want something "quick and dirty" the Husky set works VERY well.

I bought Craftsman T-6 & T-9 torx drivers from Sears Hardware (not regular Sears, but they may have them) for $3 each and they work great. They have all other smaller sizes down to T-5, and definately the T-8 and T-10 you are looking for. The Husky driver combo looks good, but the Craftsmans are a little smaller which can be either good or bad depending on your preference.

How much does the Husky run for? I may have to pick one up if it is cheaper than separate drivers.

The Husky driver runs for around 6 bucks and you get the T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, T9, T10, T15 all in one unit. I originally bought a couple of small Craftsman torx drivers from Sears, but it was a lot better (and cheaper) to get the Husky all in one. The only thing I don't like about the Husky is that you can't fit all four bits in the handle. As for the size of the Craftsman vs. the Husky--the Husky is a lot smaller than it looks in the pic. It's definitely thicker than the Craftsman, but the Craftsman ones that I have are a lot longer than the Husky. That can be a bad thing, but I prefer the thicker handle in most cases. I'll try to get a comparison pic of the two when I get home from work.

Go to http://www.homedepot.com and type in 74502 in the item # search box in the upper right hand corner of the screen to see the husky driver.

Here's those comparison pics.

The first one is just a closeup of the Husky bits. The second is the Husky next to the two Craftsman ones I have. The Craftsman drivers are actually the same length, just distorted a little because of the angle. The length of the Craftsman is 6.25" and the Husky is 5.5". The barrel thickness of the two are too close to make a difference. The third pic is just the Husky with the Benchmade Blue Box and a bargain bin set of Torx bits that I found at a hardware store for like a dollar or something.

This looks like a good Wiha set to get. It's too bad they charge $22.00 to Hawaii.

REGARDING THE HUSKY DRIVER:

All 4 bits WILL fit in the handle for storage. Reach into the handle with needle-nose pliers and pull out the divider insert; it slides right out. Now there is room for all the bits, they just rattle a bit more now.
