need to identify a broad ax

I dug this ax up with my metal detector ,its for hewing .the measurements are from the blunt end to the blade is 8 1/4 and blade is7 1/4 and curved, their is two rectangle casting stamp marks in the left corner by the blunt end

Hard to say without a photo but it sounds like a masting axe. Does ithat look like a Yankee pattern?
