Need to know what kind of knife to get!

So I've been looking around for a knew blade. I have a recon 1 thats about 4 years old now and it has held up well and i like it. im looking for a knife that i can carry with me everyday into the woods for whatever i might encounter. I prefer a tanto blade with partially serrated but that is not a must have. i want to know what kind of blade will hold up well. i do not like liner locks at all. Are you dead set on the partial serrations?
