I would like it to be capable of being opened bali style and to have a one-handed blade available while closed. That's my main criteria. I really am behind the times with these things and I know you guys can help. Ready, GO!

Most multi-tools aren't intended to be opened bali-style but some of the older Leatherman tools can be opened that way after considerable wear. That style of one-hand opening pliers is sort of a trademark of SOG. The SOG PowerAssist will have two outside accessible (and assisted opening) blades. It's scheduled for release in July.

Edit: Or by "bali style" do you just mean folding pliers? In that case, I'd suggest looking at the Leatherman Wave, Charge and Surge as well.

WTH? Is that blade for lefties only or what?

Yes, I just mean opening the tool bali style to get to the pliers.

Actually after practicing for about an hour, I can now flip my swisstool open one handed and close it the same way.;)

I also have some friends that have some old Leatherman's that are broke in so well they look like a butterfly when they flip them open.

I opted for the Gerber Recoil that has the pliers pop out with the push of a button like a switch blade.
