I've got an old BM259 that I got off of a friend that has had it for years. Handles are fubar! Aluminum pivot pins have gone, chrome peeling of of the Zamacrap, one is cracked, and the tensioning pin recess has doubled in depth too. CAn anyone point me in the right direction for how to get new handles for this great mirror polish utility blade? Somebody used to sell kits for Bear MGC blades, but I forget who. Figured I'd ask people who know balisongs rather than the shop talk guys.

sheffield knifemakers supply used to sell the kits, but i'm not sure if they still do. If they don't I am currently working on a custom Balisong, with milled handles an d
cocobolo inserts. I could email you a pic and maybe make the handles for you. I work in a cnc machine shop so it would be professionally done.
Let me know.

Toasted the handles on my PC259 two weeks ago. I feel your pain! I'm making my own replacements. Originally I had thought to make them FHM style, but after seeing some up-close .jpgs of the MT, I'm starting to wonder if I couldn't cross the two ideas - bolsters & inserts a la FHM, but 3 piece construction similar to the MT, rather than "folded."

If I could just learn to cut a straight line all would be golden & squishy...

... stomp and squish as required ...

The BM 239 and its counterpart the PC139 resemble the the Jaguar Model HC-23. Although the Jaguar's handles have a brushed alluminum look to them where the BM and PC have a chrome type of finish.

Here is a picture of the Jaguar model.

I think that there are still a pair of 42 handles for sale on blade auction. somewhere around $50.

The only problem with the 42 handles is that the blade stock for the BM259 is 3/16" and the 42 is 1/8".........
