Need to Remove Black Leather Stains from GL Micarta

I'm lucky enough to have a Green Linen BAD that I've been storing/carrying in a black BSC leather pouch sheath. But recently I noticed that the black leather dye from the sheath has either rubbed off or been absorbed by the otherwise great-looking linen micarta slabs. My two questions are:

1. How do I remove the black stains from the micarata slabs? (soap and hot water don't seem to be getting all of the black out)

2. Any recommendations how I can seal the leather sheath so that the black dye doesn't continue to come off on the micarta slabs?

(While I'm at it, I might as well throw out a third green linen micarta question: does anyone think there will ever be a GL SAR-4? I'm still hoping...)

Thanks for your responses,

I have used Comet scouring powder and liquid bleach with a toothbrush on canvas Micarta.

Gonna be hard. I'd try what Steely says, but it's not staining the micarta but the linen. Try getting leather dye out of ANY natural material. It will eventually come out. It just may take some time.

Alcohol works to a degree. I've had good success with it.

Bleach, used carefully, on a Q tip or cotton swab and dabbed on works but it will bleach the fibers as well giving you a light spot if your not careful. Use watered down bleach.

I've found that a scrubby pad and strong cleaner work best. I use comet and a scrubby to revive old micarta. Use care around the blade as it will scratch coatings and metal. 409 might do a job on it but I havent tried it yet.

This is the reason that I don't dye the insides of my custom Randall style pouch sheaths, and I hate having to do it on the production pouch sheaths but if I don't it looks so unfinished. Quite the dilemma. I seal the leather inside and out but the uber rough handles on Busse's just scrubs it right off.

I'll keep working on ways to clean handles, and keep it from happening in the first place. :)

You might be able to use some thinner of sorts. Auto 2pak is great stripping the coatings off the blades, it pretty much removes everything that's ink/paint etc... I stripped my ASH1 with it, the black canvas handles stayed in perfect condition, if anything, they were so clean, I could have performed surgery with it. And it's cheap!
