For some reason this thing thinks I'm on Guam. I'm in Maryland. What's the deal? I'm new to this in case you hadn't guessed. Thanks. -DT

First— go to your window, look outside and make absolutely sure you're not in Guam. If you really are still in Maryland, does the unit have cards for specific locations? Maybe you got the wrong cards installed. I don't have a Tom Tom so I can say exactly what might be wrong, but I'm betting it's something like that.

Son of a gun - I am on Guam. Not only that, but there's this rumor going around that our island may be about ready to capsize! :D Who in the hell would need a GPS unit on an island that's only 7 miles wide (roughly). I could walk around there with my eyes shut. Seriously, I deleted both maps, Guam and the U.S. while following promps from the Tom Tom software. No card is needed. Then, the software tried to sell me a new map for $89.95. I was so angry I almost smashed this POS. Gotta wait til' the support people get in at 7:00am EST (Is that 8:00am EDT?) Boy are they going to hear it from me. :grumpy:

Well, it seems that I did not need to pay for the North America Map. I guess the unit came with N.A. and Guam installed and was set to prefer Guam for some reason. I could've sworn I clicked on delete Guam but away went N.A. instead. I finally figured it out after a lengthy nap. Just took my first short trip and it worked good.
