What do you think about this mill? It's offered for $1300.
Is it a good deal?

I have not seen the actual machine yet but owner saying it's pretty tight.
What should I check when I'll see the machine?

Check the backlash in the ways (X feed and Y feed) and traverse the table fully in every direction. You can feel how smooth the screws are, and if there is much wear.

You should indicate the spindle with an accurate dial indicator. Put the machine under power and drill some holes with it, if you can.

Buy it. For 1300 clams, its a steal. Rare is the Millrite in that good of shape. Leadscrews and bearings can always be replaced. Heck, ya got $80-worth of levelling feet on the base there!

I'm giving it two thumbs up:

I say buy it too. A USA made vertical knee mill in fine condition is a rare find at that price even if there is some wear on the screws. That would be so nice with the addition of a DRO (digital read out)

What about tooling Jeff? Is that an R8?

Yes, it's R8
Thats seems like a good deal, I would check and see if there are any good deals on bridgeports in the area. There seem to be alot in your state. For $1300 you might be able to find one and I would guess it would be easier to find parts to fix a bridgeport rather than that machine. Im sure someone will correct me if Im wrong
