Greetings fellow forumites, I have a serious question about wallets, and yes... I did do a search here on BFC. What I am looking for is hopefully a bi-fold that is just long enough to hold bills lenth-wise. I also need about 8-10 "credit-card" slots. Here is where it gets picky. The reason I need a different wallet is that all of my credit cards get stressed at the point where they are no longer covered by the slot. With time they all break. I need something that will hold my cards without them getting cracked. The wallet needs to be small enough to fit in the back or front pockets of regular normal type pants.
thank you in advance for your replies, Mongo

I don't know if it is big enough for your needs, but I have been carrying a Fossil Front Pocket wallet since Christmas. Its really quite nice. It holds about 8 credit cards, and you can fold bills in half and it will hold about 5 or 8 of those in the middle. It is the only thing I could find that was thin enough to be comfortable in my front pocket. I think they are like 15 dollars from fossil.com

It seems sturdy. Used daily since December with no wear showing. It was a little stiff at first but after I broke it in I really like it.

I really like those taxi wallets. It'll be a couple of years until I need a new wallet and I hope I remember them then.

Check out the Donney&Bourke Swiss Banker billfold here:

It has 5 credit card slots per side. The Train Pass model (which I have), has 3 slots per side, and a flip-up ID holder. The Train Pass may be a bit bulky for front pocket carry, but the Swiss Banker is slimmer, and from the pics looks to be a little shorter lengthwise-the Train Pass is about 3/4" longer (closed) than it needs to be to accomodate bills. I got the mahogany, but I bet the tan would really get some character with age.

Actually, I just got out the Filson catalog, and they've got one that might even be better (more compact). It's called the Packer, and I'll post a link if I find it. It ain't cheap, either:(

edit: here's the link...

Some good choices here, but as far as I can tell, all will have the credit card slots that will cause the cards to crack.
Does anybody know of a hard shell wallet? Seems to me that is the answer. The taxi wallet does look intrigueing, and of course I know of Filson.... not sure if I want to pony up the bucks though.
Thanks for your replies, if anybody knows of something hard-cased, please let me know. Mongo
