I have been offered a "Calvary" that I have been searching high and low for. originally I set out to get a Large in a S30V. The knives offered are not the higher end steel. The 2 larges in the picture are in Damascus, which I had no intention of getting. Basically if the small in the picture was a large then problem solved. It is pretty much what I was looking for.
Tell me which of the 3 you would choose and why.
I do not have much experience with Damascus besides some customs I never use. I wonder if the Damascus takes away from the "Calvary" seen.
BTW. I am divulging the source of the knives due to the owner may not wanting for me to say who he/she is.

all 3 are awesome, you cant go wrong with any of them. I dont think the dasacus takes away from the over all look. Is the damascus stainless? If this is for edc, i think the small might be a little more pocket friendly, but thats just me. Pick what you like, either way im sure you will be happy. Good luck.

I'd go with either of the large ones. Beautiful knives. Does the damascus take away from the scene? HECK NO. In fact- look at it this way- the technique of making damascus steel was created not far from where those three crosses were originally stuck in the ground. Let me know which one you buy and I'll take one of the others!

If I was to choose one Sebenza it would always be the larger option. That's because it's still easily carried and has more cutting opportunity. You can't make the small Sebbie bigger later, so have a good think about what you would use her for.

It may be the light showing it off better, but I think the top one in the picture looks to have more colour & character to it?

Don't worry about the raindrop damascus - it'll be every bit as good on a user as the regular steels. I prefer them myself! And as far it it taking away from the Calvary scene, I can't see it doing that. I have a unique graphic with strong damascus pattern and the etching stands out beautifully from the blade. So don't worry about that.

Good luck in your decision. In all fairness, it's a great position to be in :D

I'd take the small plain blade personally, First off I prefer the smaller size, secondly The
blade (BG-42?) looks cleaner to me than the Damascus and it wouldn't have the maintenance issues. The Damascus blades are pretty but also maybe a little gaudy if that
makes sense. They take a little away from the graphics on the scale.

Exactly what I was thinking.
Also, I have so many knives in the medium-large range. I think the small Calvary may make a nice addition to my Mnandi, which I consider to be a gentleman's knife. The Calvary may be more appropriate for Church and dinners.

I also think the damascus takes a little away from the Calvary scene. To me the first thing that gets noticed is the damascus blade. On the S30V the handle gets noticed before the blade. Out of those three I would take the plain blade. I would also wait until a large Calvary plain blade comes around unless money is not an issue.

I like the Damascus with the artistic scenes in general.
Personally, I wouldn't get an artsy blade for serious use and would prefer to have Damascus steel on such a blade. I would carry such a blade in most public and family situations simply because the beauty of it takes away much of the fear that so many have with knives.
The Damascus pattern focal points seem to be laid out better on the top blade.
All of the blade are beautiful, there is no doubt.
One of these days I'll get a large Damascus Seb with some artwork on it. I'm a bit over extended at the moment, so it'll have to wait.

my 2 cents - do with it what you like.
