Hi everyone, this is my newest stripping project. I am about 90% done. But if you notice, there are a lot of rough spots that would require a major amount of grinding to make the knife perfect. Here is the question, should I leave it alone and just polish it leaving the original grinding alone. Example, the holes aren't round and the handle isn't perfectly level. This is not a dig on Busse, the knife was coated and was perfectly symmetrical and no one would notice these grinds unless it was stripped. My choice to strip and I accept what I get. So, should I try to perfect it or just polish it?

If it were me RW, I'd smooth out and round out the holes with a dremel on low speed, and not try to level the blade.

Oh, and use the HELL outta her!!!! ;)

Looks like a good user to me. My suggestion, use it, sand it, use it, sand it, repeat and repeat. Just my 2 cent.

It's whatever makes your heart sing. But if you love the knife and plan on carrying it much then what would you want to look at all day? When you pull it out what would make you say to yourself "yep I'm glad I did that!"?

For me, I would want the grinds to match the finish. Meaning, if you want a lovely polish, then the grinds should be perfect. Conversely, less than perfect grinds would look better with a BIG-like or bead blasted finish. Just my thoughts. I also agree with hydeinmind.

This thing was ground, and coated a few year's ago.

Without google fu, name the knife.

OP, do you know?

I'd want it perfect, If I couldn't do it , I would send it to someone who could or Get it re-coated.
It looks awe full with uneven grinds:eek:.
It would be Bad ass with a Camo coating ,and not that ceracote stuff.

Here are some close-ups of what I am talking about. I think I am going to try to clean it up.

looking good now RW, l like how you fixed the holes
And lots of polishing, wish I had the patients for that
How much time you put into that beauty

Thats a lot of sanding, holy moly. I'd be happy with that result. My arm may not though......

Thank you! I spent about 14 hours on it so far. A couple more and I'll be done!

Man, much improved! Those holes looked like they were chewed in by a beaver - Looks more that 10X better from that alone.
