Hey ya'll
What's the difference in how the Tan vs Black Swamp Rats hold up over time. I want a user and I'm wondering how the finished hold up after extended use. EG, does the Tan finish go to hell after it's been worked for a while? Anyone have any pics of these? I can't seem to find a pic of the Tan/Tan HR anywhere :(
 
Hi wyldoliv,

There are big differences between the black and tan coatings. Before they are used, the black coating feels semi-smooth in comparison to the tan, which feels like sandpaper. As they get used, the black will smooth out and harden more while the tan smooths some, but retains the rough texture more and begins to look a bit more dirty.

With additional use, the black coating begins to wear back, exposing the steel beneath. The tan will eventually wear off, exposing the steel, but it takes a considerably longer time for this to happen. The tan is much more durable.

As far as seeing a pic of a tan HR, here you go. There are very few of these around, so if you get a chance to pick one up, I highly recommend it. :thumbup:

Thanks a lot for the pics/info! So you say they're more durable. That's interesting. I can see how they're both good for different purposes. Do people trade Black for Tan? I'm thinking about upgrading my membership to try and do this. I'm wondering if this is fruitless, though.
 
It's worth a shot! I ran a WTB thread here for almost a full year before I got a response. Definitely tough to get. Good luck in your search, w!! :thumbup:
