I drew up the Mk.2 version of my Lil’ Pee Dee knife, but I also drew up one will a less tall (?) blade and a touch longer and redesigned handle. I cut out an Exp. model and like the knife.

I’m not sure if I
a) make the Mk.2 only
b) call the Exp. the Mk.2 and make that only
c) make both and come up with a new name for the Exp. model.

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Choices are great but for me I'd take the MK 2. Although, I would prefer a combo of the two - MK 2's blade (I like fatties) on EXP's tang. Love the harpoon too. 👍🏼

I would give it a new name and loose the harpoon at the tip.

I mean, seems too obvious to make sense 😂. Let me go draw that up.

I’d also push the new model blade out to 3” and give it some more flat on the edge towards the handle.

I also have a regular drop point model of each, so they’ll be out there. I like the harpoon on shorter knives like these so my thumb has a place to index. Plus they look cool to me.
Oh, I like harpoon blades. Just giving you suggestions to ponder…since ya asked. 😁

I would begin dropping the point from opposite the choil to were the tip is now. It would necessitate the removal of the harpoon tip which does absolutely nothing for the knife except make things more cumbersome and complicated.

If you wanted to add something a little different a drawn swedge for about 2/3rds of the upper edge to the point would give the knife an excellent look.

Not sure if this was covered....?

What steel, what thickness, HRC?

Your use and need for this knife might be different that what we are thinking

loose the harpoons!🐳

Trying to get a better understanding of his design, I dug out a similar sized blank.
My blade thickness is around .040" .
These are little knives.
I agree about wondering what the harpoon is there for?

I’m probably going to go with Nitro-V, .093”, 60 HRC. I like the harpoon to the aesthetics and it gives a nice indexing spot for my thumb. I have these drawn in a typical drop point as well, but the harpoons move fast.
