Wasn't planning on buying anything today; just gonna hold some knives in hand and see what I thought. I was carrying a PM2 for a couple of weeks (sold it because of the digicam) and was wondering how the Sheepsfoot Griptiilian would work. They ended up having a brand new shipment of knives in but hadn't put them out yet. The guy told me: "I have one you will love" and handed me a 940 box. I've owned a 940 a couple of times now and planned on flicking it a couple of times and then stating great knife but I'm looking for something else. The 940 is one of those knives that I really like but I never have managed to hang onto. As soon as I opened it; I knew I had to buy it. Really dig Benchmade's new box and the fit/finish/quality on this knife is unreal.

Here are some pics because a thread without pics is worthless. ;)

You seem to migrate often when it comes to knives; (no offense intended at all and please correct me if I'm wrong.) I'm just curious--if true--why is that? Still on the hunt for "the one"? Trying out a range of options?

(After ~15 years, the 940 design is still probably my favorite overall EDC design--('surpassed' only recently by the 940-1.))

I take no offense to this. :)

I'm not a collector and don't like having knives sitting in boxes or drawers generally. I'll buy something or trade for something and when I get the itch for something else (which seems to happen every week because of bladeforums); I'll move some knives to get something else.

I'm also a very conflicted person in that I really love BIG knives as far as folders go. But I don't like to carry one daily. I'll grab something small and then want to go larger and then vice versa. I believe I'm gonna buy one larger knife (probably a Benchmade) to keep when the time comes for wanting to carry a larger knife or if I may need something a bit sturdier.

Basically, I love knives and don't want to have a drawer full of them taking up space so I buy/sell/trade.

I'll post some pics tomorrow although I'm sure everyone knows what a 940 looks like. ;)

Very nice. That is one model I have never owned.

Re: the sheepsfoot Grips, in all the years I have been collecting and using Mini Grips, I never really gave them a second look. They just didn't do much for me...
Ironically, one day I was using one of my old Case slip joints, and I tried the Sheepsfoot blade. My first thought was, why have I never used this blade before ?
I really like them now....

One day I was looking at different Mini Grips, and when I looked at the 555, it hit me, and I was instantly hooked. I even started liking the look of the blades.
I only have three 555's at the moment. A new version in 154, and two older versions with the oval holes. One is 440C and the other is a transition model in 154 with the oval hole.

You should try one. I think you might really like it.
