Those numbers are awfully close to the edge, it looks to me like they were already on the piece of steel this was made from.personalized prison shank ???

A shank is exactly what everyone said my very similar homemade knife looked like.Hobby shank !![]()
It looks to me like it's (sort of) double edged and has a bit of a menacing vibe . IMO intent was for a weapon . Of course that doesn't preclude a teenaged maker .A shank is exactly what everyone said my very similar homemade knife looked like.
Of course it's homemade, but I'll go one further and say it was a teenager attempt at making a knife.

Seems a bit too fancy for a simple weapon.
When I made sharp things as a teenager I went for basic dagger and spike type stuff when I wanted to make some kind of weapon for fun, a knife like this is what I made when my goal was a cutting tool.
My impression is that whoever made it simply made what they thought would look cool or they probably just winged it like I usually did and went where the metal took them.
I'd take and angle grinder and file to some kind of a piece of steel, and the result could look like anything.
I've got something around somewhere that ended up with a batwing looking blade.
does anyone know anything about this knife ???
