Funny, this is what occurred to me:

There are other phone number songs, but these are the only two I have seen live.

This happens to look extremely close to a knife I made as a teenager out of an old lawn edger blade.
I painted my blade black I think and I stained the wood green, but it really is crazy how much like it this homemade knife looks.

A shank is exactly what everyone said my very similar homemade knife looked like.

Of course it's homemade, but I'll go one further and say it was a teenager attempt at making a knife.
It looks to me like it's (sort of) double edged and has a bit of a menacing vibe . IMO intent was for a weapon . Of course that doesn't preclude a teenaged maker .

Seems a bit too fancy for a simple weapon.

When I made sharp things as a teenager I went for basic dagger and spike type stuff when I wanted to make some kind of weapon for fun, a knife like this is what I made when my goal was a cutting tool.
My impression is that whoever made it simply made what they thought would look cool or they probably just winged it like I usually did and went where the metal took them.
I'd take and angle grinder and file to some kind of a piece of steel, and the result could look like anything.
I've got something around somewhere that ended up with a batwing looking blade.

Pics or it didn't happen!

I found the batwing looking thing, and suprisingly I still had what's left of that knife similar to what the OP found.
I don't remember how, but it ended up breaking at some point.

This thread made me think of the crap I used to make as a kid, and I'm suprised it still have any of if.

Definitely homemade. If it was in an old house, maybe someone just wanted a small fixed blade and couldn't find what they wanted at the store, so they just filed down some scrap metal and whittled some wood for handles

I agree it looks to be a home made knife, made from a random piece of steel which already had the letters stamped on it.
I think that there are no more serious answers to be found.
Thread closed before it becomes deluged with joke answers.
