so i picked up a needs work recently, and my wife was playing with it, and told me she wanted a knife just like it. something that fit the hand the same, on the thick/bulky side, and was just as fast with speedsafe. but one thing she didnt like about it at all was the blade shape. does kershaw have a knife at a similar price point with the same ergos and speedsafe, but with a different blade? say drop point, spear point or something of the like? i want to get her one, but all the ones i have handled are either slim and fast, or bulky and manual...or significantly more than the needs work in price. thank you.

I would take a look at the Clash. It features the same spring-assisted opening, flipper design, size and a lower price! It is NOT as thick, but the Needs Work is a bit abnormal in that regard. Nevertheless the handle is "chunky" and feels really good. Only thing bad would be the downgrade in steel. (8Cr13MoV)

If the steel is an issue you might get her interested in the Packrat a funky design with amazing ergos, but with a higher price tag.

Hope this helps.

ill look for the clash. thank you much. im not a steel snob, and she doesnt know what good steel is and isnt, just what i encourage her to shy away from and what not.

I'll 2nd the Clash. At the price point, you would be hard pressed to find a knife with
better fit and finish as the Clash.

Personally I'd look for a G10 Needs Work, but the Clash is by far the snappiest opening Kershaw that I own. Plus you can't beat the price.
