Hi

While I was in our local tobacco shop I saw the needs work model from kershaw. Now what apield to me was the design and the overall feel for the knife.

BUT it is a liner and I am not a big fan of liners so my first question is how good is this liner lock in this model? i used a black vapor for about two years and these is some bladeplay.

Further how does this knife perform its chores of cutting and does the handle feel good while cutting?

On the clip.. Is it a secure clip because it seems small.

Finally. Can someone post some pictures for me of the knife? Thank you very much!!!

I bought one for my best buddy and he LOVES it! He needed a knife he could carry in California without too much trouble and it's a good worker. Here's a link to the needs work page at Kershaw.

I carried this knife for about a week before sending it to him to see if it would be a good fit for him and I was pretty happy with it. The clip did it's job well and wasn't too "flashy". The lockup was nice and the ergonomics were good for my medium/large hand size. The speedsafe mechanism opened the blade a little slower than my Scallions and Chive, but it worked every time and was dependable. I would not have given it to him if it wasn't a good knife.

Knives in a tobacco shop? I smoke and I love knives. I must find one of these shops. It would cut my shopping time in half and I could indulge both my hobbies at once.

The Needs Work is a nice knife for the money. The clip is as secure as any. I haven't lost mine yet. It cuts well and is comfortable b/c the handle angles up so you don't bust your knuckles cutting on a flat surface. Ultimately, it is good bang for the buck. You get 13C26 steel and speedsafe for a rock bottom price. The poly scales have some rough edges but those wear down. I would prefer G10 scales but at 30 bucks I can live with it as is.

I have a Needs Work. Just as the posters above have said, the clip does hold very well. The ergos of this little knife are great for cutting. It locks up nice and tight. Mine opens really well with authority and a nice quick snap. For $30 +/- you really can't beat this great little knife. I was hesitant on getting it because of the poly scales but after holding and using it, it really does feel pretty good.

Jip. Lots of our tobacco shops have knives on display and sell quite a range of kershaws, swiss, leatherman and spyderco.

by the way. Love your aviator. rage against the machine

i have a needs work but i dont have picks. they are an extremely good knife from what i have seen, i'm letting a buddy test it out for me at the college he works at and he has been cutting cardboard boxes up before putting them in a recycle bin. he has had it for close to 2 months and its still sharp. the design has to be one of the easiest to sharpen knives i have seen. the thin blade design makes bringing the edge back with a ceramic stick fast and easy in the field.

I have one and use it for work as a remodel contractor. I love the blade type and the grip. For a low cost knife, I find it have to believe it is made in the USA. The steel hopes a good edge and is easy to sharpen. You can't go wrong with this package.. Right on Kershaw!

I saw one of these at the local sports goods store yesterday. Ive looked into it before on the web, but pictures really dont do it justice. It actually looks really nice, just the blade shape and rubbery handle isnt for me.

I have a Needs Work on the way from a trade with one of the good guys here at the Kershaw Forums, and I can't wait to receive it. I really like the blade-style, and the way that the handle angles up from the blade. The fact that it's a "Speed-Safe" model is a big plus. Also, the Polyimide handle won't feel as cold this Winter in my hand as the aluminum handles can feel.

I think you'll like it G-Man. As I said before, I was hesitant to get it just for the fact
it had poly scales, but I can honestly say it feels pretty good to me.
