I just found another brick-and-mortar knife store, and I am still up in the air about it. The Place was called the Steel Source, and it had a bunch of swords and helmets
barf
in the window. I hemmed and hawed for a minute, and decided to just go in.
I first saw dragon and wizard figurines(not good) and ALOT of swords. Crap. But then I saw the glass cases. Magnum - meh. Winchester - meh. Cold Steel - meh. CRKT - hmmm. Kershaw - YES!
Thier prices were all over the place -- $75 for a full-sized cyclone(I paid $70 for a mini at Dick's) And $90 for a NEEDS WORK!! What's up with that! Was the store owner just trying to take advantage of uninformed knife buyers? Would uninformed knife buyers spend $90 for a knife? Were there four or five crack rocks in the box? I had it out for purchase until I asked if the sticker had the right price on it.
Of course, the clerk was just a clerk and didn't know nuthin bout nuthin, so that was the end of that.
I did, however, walk out of there with a nice new Groove. I think I like it more for the thick frame lock and the super-smooth pivot than for the uber-cool blade(which is, in my opinion, an excellent length and really useful blade shape with the recurve and what not.).

So I guess this was more of a rant about a lame store than the Needs Work(maybe this should go in GB&U
), But as impressed as I was with the Needs Work, I just ordered one for $30.
:thumbup: Two thumbs-up to Kershaw and thier quality knives!
