Thanks so much to all involved. Especially Yangdu.

Firstly I can't believe how fast the shipping was and how simple the whole deal was. Perhaps the "CONUS only" brigade would do well to remember their comrades in arms and make the slight effort. (Fire away. I'm ready)

Secondly, the quality and quantity (ha ha) of this piece just blew me away. It's like God designed my body knowing I would one day, need to fit this tool. I LOVE it. I already had an old Khukri from Nepal but the HI one makes my original just laughable.

I'll be back for more.
Thanks again all.

The second pic hopefully shows the heft of this knife. This is what has really won me over. Despite the weight, I am very happy with the balance.

16.5 inch length overall.

I'm glad you got it and that it worked out so well for you! That is a great knife and a great deal. That is the best all around size for a CAK IMO.

After making the effort to ship Int'l, at least to England and Canada a couple of times, I am now one of the "CONUS only" folks after Canada post ruined the Napoleon sword I sent to Kazeryu.

A one of a kind item destroyed, IMO deliberately or with callous disregard in any case.

In follow up calls they have seized on the idea that it was a "prohibited weapon" in order to deny the claim, even though it was fully insured. When I asked if a piece of re-bar or a sharpened #3 pencil could be considered a "weapon" if I stabbed someone from Canada Post in the eye with it, there was silence.

Finally I got them to concede that if it was a "prohibited weapon", then why did they proceed to deliver the prohibited item? Idiots.

I am so glad now that I listed it for what it was on the customs form: "engraved decorative garden sculpture." I have before and after pics of the engraved outer metal scabbard of the sculpture, and I hope that's enough.

In any case, I'm not as big or as knowlegeable as HI with regards to shipping, and won't be shipping outside of the US ever again after this.

I hope you continue to take advantage of these deals and stock up on several more HI's for your collection.

Appreciate the interest all. Took the knife out today and "tested" it on some good timber. Green and dry. Very very happy with it. And it was still sharp afterwards.

I do appreciate some of the international issues. Many Australians have various exemptions which allow us to import what others have difficulty with.

Maybe it would be an idea for the sales forums to run a CO tag in the header where applicable. I would probably still torment myself by looking but it is a bit dissappointing to be viewing and thinking about an item, only to find out it is not available.

While I'm at it Svashtar, you seem to know your khukris. Does HI do special orders? Within reason of course. I was wondering whether one could ask for a particular variation and/or a particular kami. I know of course there would be a premium involved.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Yes, HI does do special orders as they can. I have a special Chitlangi Bowie order that's been in for a couple of months that hasn't been made yet because of kami and production issues but it'll get here sooner or later. Sometimes you have to be very patient, other times a special order will sail through.  :D

Congrats! The first time my Kashmiri pall saw HI AK he said "My friend .. I tell you what .. this thing is a real thing!"

What Yvsa said for sure. For almost 2 years I did no special orders at all because Uncle Bill was so sick and asked us to hold up; they are more work for HI and IMO should command a bit of a premium over what you might pay on a DOTD.

Since then I have only done a few: a pair of Ganga Rams, a YCS, a BDC and an Attitude IIRC. Like Yvsa I have one pending, but there has been some turnover in the kamis, and Yangdu has her hands full as it is. I've had it in for a while and it will come when it comes. I have never been disappointed with any specially ordered knife.

But pay attention to the DOTD, and you might see just what you're looking for at a great price.

Ha. yes I do have a bewdy. Unfortunately in this day and age I would horrify people if I had it in my belt and swinging off my hip, where in belongs. (and believe me, that's where it would be)

Next up is a daily carrier.

Thanks for the responses.
