Hi...I never see Neeman or Autine axes or hatchets for sale on the secondary market.
I've got several of each (new) and may part with some.
I'd appreciate any feedback on how to price them. Such as how much they are
worth over what's the makers prices. Any ideas or suggestions?.....thank you..

Why would they be worth more than one that could be purchased from the maker? Are they limited edition or have some other feature that sets them apart? I don't know anything about that brand in particular, but I don't know of a currently produced axe that would be considered collectable or gain value by being purchased. I do see that with some knife brands, but not axe makers. I could be wrong though, I mostly pay attention to the vintage stuff.

I can only presume that you were disappointed with the products and are therefore looking to dump them in hopes of recouping some of what you cheerfully (at the time) paid. Now if in fact you're a speculator then all I can say is 'good luck'. Most folks are not interested in paying retail price for something unusual and merely seek to cash in on other buyer's misfortunes.

I just went to their website to take a look. Damn....

I have no doubt that these are extremely well made tools of highest quality. Hand forged by experts one at a time and excellently hafted. Top notch stuff and there is obviously a market for it. I am in no way offering critique, if a company is making high quality products and has willing customers, nothing else needs to be said. It's just that I saw "American Felling Axe, $470" and my brain stopped for a second or two. I am obviously not the target market, as the first thing that I ask myself is how many other ways I could spend that money. I guess these products are for people who don't have to ask themselves that question! ;)

On as many vintage axe rescues you could get your hands on

I also visited their website IMMHO they belong in the gun case right next to a Holland & Holland well regulated Double Rifle!

True story. I have a friend of 50+ years (length of friendship - not age) who bought a new Gransfors Bruks hatchet at least 10 years ago. It has never been used and he keeps it in his gun safe along with some pretty nice guns. I get on him about using it, but no success. Oh well, at least he uses the guns. :)

300....wrong presumption...not disappointed....not dumping....not a speculator...and don't need good luck...I don't think you have any idea of what most folks are thinking......you missed the boat entirely....

470!? Their prices went up! Good luck selling, though. Wish I could afford an Autine Hunter's Axe. Don't want anything to do with Neeman Tools since the owner kept Neeman's name and hired another blacksmith. Autine is the legit one in my mind, although I'm sure they're both top notech if quality can be judged by photographs.

I'm of the opinion I'd 'missed the boat' had I commissioned one of these implements and never used it. Even Holland & Hollands never come up for sale NIB unless the owner died before he/she took delivery of the piece.
Anyway that aside this forum is certainly as good a place as any to entice an aficionado of axes. Please post some pictures for us to drool over.

I know wranglerstar is not a good name around these parts, but he tested an Autine axe, and the handle came loose on the first day...they made things right, but really??

Actually I believe Wranglerstar still has the head without a handle. I'm pretty sure they offered for him to send it back but I don't think e ever did.

Hahaha, the arguing is always good. But I am pretty sure these threads usually just get closed - some kind of forum rules or whatever.

Put it to auction and see what it fetches. Then we'll know what it's worth.

Yes. It is what ever some one is willing to pay.
Axe prices never reflect my own personal preferences or taste. To both my amusement and chagrin.

First of all, there is no person called 'John Neeman', it's a Marketing construct created for the business. The Founder and creative force behind 'John Neeman Tools (JNT)' is Jakobs Dimiters. Jakobs is also a former Film Editor which explains the excellent production values of his videos.

Janis Nimanis and his brother left under questionable circumstances taking with them several designs they did not create. No one except Jakobs and Janis know what really happened. I'll leave it to you to figure out. (See link below)

Then there is the aforementioned 'Wrangler Star' review (see attached). Seeing the kind of poor workmanship and deceitful practices used to try and implement the fix the ensures I'll will never own one. The Axe Axe head should have been tossed and started over again. Considering this was a 'review piece' one would think 'Autine' would go to every effort to make it perfect. If they will attempt to get away with those shenanigans with a 'Reviewer', what makes you think a regular customer will get any better? JMHO, YMMV. : )

Yeah, I've heard both sides of the story. Can't comment on wranglerstar's experience, except that I don't view him as a highly credible source. The comparison video with the Autine axe is cringeworthy.

Anyway, I'm just a poor dummy who can't afford Autine or John Neeman. Guess I'll have to keep refurbishing and making my own stuff :D

There are always two sides to a story. However, it always puzzled me, if a person's legal name is 'John Neeman' why can't he use it as his business name instead of 'Autine'? Makes you go, "Hmm?"

I don't know much about 'Wrangler' other than what I've read. He seems to come from a Forestry background and he has a few videos on YouTube and a reasonable following. The Autine Axe should have never made it out of the shop.

I have two John Neeman Tools products. The 'Robin Wood Edition Carving Axe' and the '8th Century Viking Battle Axe'. I use the Carving Axe when working on bowls and spoons. The 'Battle Axe' is a wall hanger and homage, to my Danish ancestry, but I did have to take it out see how it performed. Along with my Svante Djarv Large and Small Viking Axes my carving Axe needs are pretty well met. I like hand-forged edged tools and always have. I also own several custom-made, hand-forged knives.

Keep up the good work refurbishing those garage sale and flea market specials. :D

ScooterJammer makes a good point. They're charging astronomical prices for their products and they can't even make sure that someone who is publicizing their product gets a decent piece? Disappointing...
