My Neil Roberts Warrior arrived today.

Wow, what a knife!

The handle fits my medium sized hands very well, and the choil allows for an effective forward grip.

I didn’t think it was possible to get such a smooth and sharp edge on S30V, but CRKs NIB sharpness once again sets the standard.

The blade shape and grind are beautiful.

Thanks for making another great knife.

I can’t wait to use it!

David

Any problems with those fun guys at customs? Did they charge you any import duty?

There was a customs inspection sticker on the box, but no problems or customs duty.

Did you have any trouble getting your Sebenza?

None at all and it's rather interesting that the Sebbie attracted no import duty while the SnG did. Nothing like consistency!

Okay, that's good to know about the Sebbie. Thanks.

I think the exchange rate on the given day must have some impact on whether we pay duty or not.

Congratulations!

I have one coming in the mail in the next few days and I'm really looking forward to handling it.

I can't imagine you feeling any way other than very very happy when it arrives.

Everyone who has handled mine has been really impressed.

I have mixed feelings about this knife; I really like the design and the way it looks, but I don't like "painted" blades. I came this close to buying one last week, but chickened out the last minute because of the blade. :(

Painted blade?

Easy to get re-blasted and coated again by CRK for a small fee. Every knife, coated or not, gets scratched up with use.

What sold me on the knife was being able to talk to Bill Harsey and to hold his prototype Roberts Warrior knife. After the knife show where I saw it, Bill said it was going in his safe.

Yes they certainly are pretty. Its a tough job between the GB and the NR. Best to bite down hard and get them both, just in case :)

The KG coating is very tough. My old Shadow has turned a bit gray with use, but there is still plenty of coating.

Green Beret or Neil Roberts: for me there was no contest. I don't like serrations, and I don't find the GB handle to be comfortable or practical.

Ahh.. I see. I guess if it scratched easily it could look pretty crappy after a while.
Gun Kote is some tough stuff. You would know this is you used a CRK one piece knife before. My MKVI was used for 5 years and the coating held up very well in that time regardless of the beating it took. Yeah, it got scatched up, but not oas much if it didn't have the coating. The only reason I sen tit back into CRK for a recoating is that I had the option of getting it done in OD green instead of the Grey. I suggest you give the knife another look. :)

I've thought about getting my Shadow 7" recoated, but I know where all the scratches came from, and am fond of the times and places that they represent.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not disputing the toughness of any particular coating, I've never had the pleasure of owning one of these knives and the only "coated" knife I have is my SnG and perhaps the Rainbow Chive and I haven't scratched either of them significantly yet. I must admit though that I think I prefer the finish on my Sebbie, even though the SnG has that "cool" appearance and, as Cliff Stamp has stated, the only reason anyone buys these expensive knives is for the mall ninja effect!

Don't believe everything Cliff says. I gave 2 of my friends who went to Iraq CRK knives, a GB and a Shadow III, and both have used them in combat. The knives took a beating and the coating survived pretty much intact less a few scratches on the coating in one of the harshest enviroments on earth. I would value the opinions of those who actually used them as they were intended. Those are the testimonials you should base your decision on.
