Some folks have mentioned stripping their 21s at some point in the future, but no one has posted any "nekkid" 21s yet, so I figured we could put all stripped 21s in one place, starting with mine.
First, the obligatory "out of the box" glamour shot.
Followed by an "I used it for a while" shot.... worked VERY well chopping through dry, Giant Ragweed, many larger than a 50¢ piece. That's a quarter on a ragweed stump.
First step in the stripping process was to deepen the etch using a little DC electro-etching...
Next, I applied a hefty dose of Jasco stripper. I covered the handle section with several layers of packing tape to leave the coating under handles. Left it in the sun on a 60F day for about an hour and the coating came off easier than an exotic dancer's dress. The only pan I had lying around big to hold the 21 was an extra water heater drain pan.
An interesting observation is that the stripper left a nice, dark patina everywhere EXCEPT where I sanded off the coating for a good electrical connection for the etching process.
Here it is, stripped without the handles reinstalled.
And then the final product.
So there it is, a nekkid 21. Next up, use the hell out of it to convert the Jasco patina to a legitimate "user patina".
