Using a Frost 115 Laplander blade I spent an interesting weekend of wrestling with blue and red paracord, wiped and dried before repeating twice for each stage (to prevent the dreaded glossy effect).

I did this on thin ply bolsters died red and will look to micarta next time. I really need a paracord thinner than the 2mm shown as it limits the pattern potential and overly bulks the handle for the size of the blade.

Fun, will make a 5 &1/2” blade for my next attempt. Oh while I am out shopping for the 12c27 I could do with a variable angle bench vice and some humour.

can you strip out the center strands
on 550 cord i know you can and it makes for much thiner cord
just a thought

Thanks,

I didn't think of using the core of another cord. When I next hit J'burg I will hunt for some. Weaving is really where I want to go. I have originated some great patterns with string but string is just string and neither durable or desirable.

There is so much to go wrong with epoxy with it going blobby or glossy, both ugly. With normal cord wrapping it can easily replaced or cleaned when dirty. Unfortunately with pattern weaving it is too involved.
