My first attempt at neo-tribal. This one is destined for the St. Louis show and it was a blast to make. Don't have the specs on hand, but she is hammered out of W-2 and has very interesting hamon activity that I couldn't quite capture on the camera. Anyway, any criticism, good or bad, would be appreciated.

Thanks. :)

NT stuff is always cool. I like this piece a lot, Mike. How'd you get the hamon? W-2 is water quench, yes? I'll bet that edge is hard as a rock. I've messes around with W-1 before, but not W-2 yet. The W-1 could get RC59-60 in water (sans ping), and had a decent carbon content. I'm curious as to the hardness of this blade. Nice work, and btw your wraps are getting better all the time, bro.

Thanks Higgy --

I don't do as much water-quenching now. I use Parks 50 as it's very quick but mostly "ping free." :) I use clay and am always experimenting. I think this one got an edge quench.

This stuff can get pretty tough, I usually try to keep 'em at 58.

Very Nice Michael !!!!
While I truly enjoy the technical end of knife making, I'm always glad to see makers run back to Mama and create basic using knives the old way.

Looks great to me, the hamon is definatly interesting and I like the fire scale left on the spine.

Primitives with cord wraps are definately interesting,The wrapping is something I really need to try one of these days.
Oh Yea,Very nice Knife...

Thanks again --

Anvilring -- hopefully it don't make it to Arkansas, I hope to unload it at St. Louis. :)

Shappa -- the cordage is cotton from Mrs. Tomey and is coated with West Systems epoxy. Low viscosity, but great protection.

Great lookin knife, and very nice hamon, I like the shape also.
I guess I will get to see this one in a couple of weeks.

Dang... You guys are gonna get to see each other's knives! I'd sure like to be there for that one.

That's a great knife Michael. May I ask where you got the Parks 50?
