I have this nice fighter I am working on.
And its nearing the stage where I want to fit scales...was originally gonna use micarta...but now I'm going to use neoprene.

So umm...any advice on how to work this stuff and not make a mess out of it?
I've never used it before and want to be sure I do this right and dont screw it up.

I used some neoprene on a small utility knife one. I pinned it in place with black micarta rods and used super glue to help it adhere. Results were so so.

I think I got the stuff from Texas Knifemakers. The second set of neoprene scales were used for sanding blocks....and they are super for that.

I'm not too keen on neoprene either. I'm going back to nylon waders! Those neoprenes make this fat boy sweat like crazy and I'm wetter on the inside than on the outside! Oh, I'm sorry, this isn't the duckhunter's forum...:)

You can use your standard epoxy on the neoprene handle material. Texas Knifemaker's Supply does carry it the last time I looked. I do like the sanding block idea. I glued some leather on some wood for sanding sticks/blocks but I believe you are on to something there...especially for the finer grits. Great idea!

(Maybe I'll just cut up an old mousepad):)

I've used it and don't like it for scales either. It's easy to use. Cut it to size with a razor knife and sand with medium grit. I used a special contact cement the neopreme people had. Held fine. Just looked like neopreme.

Satin,
I've used alot of it for inserts and glue it in with Locktite 480 super glue. Didn't care much for it as a handle scale.
Best place I have found it is at a shoe repair shop. You can get a full shoe sole fairly cheap and the quality is good.
