I' don't hang out on any other forums here.

For those that do, would it be worth posting a couple links on the situation and proposed aid with a request that those moved also e-mail their congressmen? I realize that it might not be appropriate on some forums.

Wish we had a hard link to the Spec Ops stuff, might get a better response.

I don't know, but maybe Spark could post one of his across the forum posts for this purpose. ... sounds like it'd fit into the category of others he's done. ..

Just a thought. I wrote all of my congressmen from SD (including Daschle) and haven't heard ANYTHING back from any of them. ... frustrating

Got a canned response from Harry Reid. Nothing from anybody else. I'll bet Bill Gates could get a response.

I don't know how likely a personal reply is. There's probably some intern sifting stuff, and Nepal will be a one-liner in a quick briefing. HOWEVER, like I said, $20 mil is pocket change. That one-line briefing may be enough to move someone from an ambivalent neigh to YEA.

Also doesn't hurt that the sky-high approval rating President proposed this, and it falls under the umbrella of anti-terrorism. If we were doing this from the ground up, we could move all the kamis, sarkis, and assorted family to Reno for less than a Nepal-aide campaign would take.

Billy-boy could also just loan Nepal the money, in exchange for their immortal souls (or a long-term exclusive WIndows market agreement, which amounts to the same.)

Speaking of celebrities, Tibet is a very chic cause for celebs. Any chance we could work the same angle for Nepal? Arnold Schwarzeneger cleaving an Oscar in half with a 30" Ang Khola would generate some buzz. :D

ROTFLMRRAO! :) Has to be in the running for the all-time best single line on BF!

I suspect that's because charisma/popularity of the Dali Lama.

The celebrities didn't seem to care about Tibet until AFTER it was lost. Wouldn't trust most of 'em farther than I could spit. Wouldn't let them any closer than that either. How many changed stripes after World Trade center?

Gotta be better allies somewhere.

Arnie with a BIG AK would be kinda cool though.
