Some current rumblings in Nepal about all those antique khukuris (and other antique weapons) from the Nepal national armory that were sold to a U.S. company about ten years ago.
"Disclosure by the Ministry of Defense that it had obtained only half of the total amount of money from the sale is enough indication of a great deal of misappropriation and embezzlement. Monetary value aside, the antique weapons were a living witness of the expansion era of the late eighteenth century and Anglo-Nepal War (1814-16)"

"Unless exemplary action is taken against those involved in these deals and a proper system put in place to document such antiques, many physical evidence linked with tales of bravery of the Gorkha soldier may be lost forever."
