Nepal astrologers predict victory for Obama

How do people get the idea that Obama was somehow a poor black guy from the ghetto, in touch with the problems of the poor and impoverished?
He's rich, he was raised by rich white folks. (He is half white.)
He's got more money than I'll ever have, and I am a staunch republican.
Thank God people in other countries don't have a say in our elections.
I hear Hamas likes Obama, too.
(No offense to the people of Nepal)

No, I don't. I dont expect any political party or leader to be responsible for my wealth or economic success. I work, I eat. I don't work, I dont eat.
I expect politicians only to represent my political interests, that is, protecting my rights under the constitution.
The idea of expecting the president or any leader to make sure I have money is not democracy to me, it's socialism or feudalism or communism.
I'd rather be poor and have the right to own a pistol than to be stripped of all but a semblance of freedom and yet have all my basic needs provided by the government.
I have lived in socialist countries and former communist countries.
You don't want it, I promise you.
It kills the spirit of a people and gives rise to an epidemic of organized crime.

Thank God people in other countries don't have a say in our elections.

Danny, did you read the article I linked to?

"While the presidential campaign can ignore the Nepali astrologers, it can't however afford to dismiss the Nepali diaspora residing in the US, whose number is nearly 150,000.

In a report from Washington on Monday, Kantipur, Nepal's biggest daily, said Nepalis residing in the US were rooting for Obama, wooed by his pledge for greater education and healthcare funds for the middle and lower middle class.

"Someone like Obama will be able to understand our problems," said Babu Ghimire, a Nepali resident with two children. "Save a few, the majority of Nepalis in the US belong to the low and middle income groups."

It's about Nepalis living in the US, not about Nepalis living in Nepal. So didn't you mean to say "Thank God foreigners don't have a say in our elections"? That would be more to the point, although some Nepalis in the US are US citizens and foreigners no more.

Cool link. Without trying to get anyone's political feathers ruffled, I have to remain optimistic about the results of the election. I truthfully don't care for either man, but maybe it won't turn out too horribly.

no, that isnt socialism. (my brother made the same mistake)
Do some homework and get back to me...
