My son-in-law's brother is an Army Special Forces Major who recently returned from a training mission to somewhere in Central to Eastern Asia (these things are usually classified and he didn't tell me). Anyway, it must have taken him to Nepal, or somewhere very close, because he recently sent me a "Service No. 1" Khukuri. The brochure, business card, and invoice (not sure he meant to send me the invoice!) are all addressed to GURKHAS KHUKURI HOUSE (estd. 2001), in Kathmandu, Nepal. Their website is gurkhaskhukuri.com.

Anyone know if this is the "Khukuri House" that used to frequent the knife boards here in the U.S.? It seems to be a quality piece of steel, comparable to the H.I. khukuris I've seen. He's a great guy and I'm very pleased to receive a gift from him from somewhere he's been! He and I've kept in touch over the years as there was a time we were both in the Army at the same time. I'm retired now.

Seems like it is the same.

H.I. has pretty well taken over the khukuri "market" on this forum, but I've seen many other "brands" that appear to be of equal quality.

Good catch. Khukuri knives are a giggle to use. I currently own one of the surplus British military models and find it more than satisfactory. Decent all around use design.

No it isn't. Doesn't mean that the khukuris they sell are bad, it's just not the same company. The khuks they have look pretty good and could very well be suppliers of Nepalese Ghurkha Regiments (there are Brittish, Indian and Nepalese Ghurkha units).

The "KH" that usually gets discussed is this one:
