Here is another winning combination of Kumar and Nepal's best sarki.

The khukuri is an 18.5 inch Ang Khola with a 7/16 thick blade. The knife weighs in at 2 pounds even -- again that is pretty light for an 18.5 inch AK from BirGorkha. The fit and finish are excellent. The handle is saatisal and excellently done. Hardness is about 58 or 59 Rc in the chopping area. Of some interest to me and perhaps to you are the karda and chakma.

First, they are handled in what the BirGorkha folks call "hill walnut" and it looks like a sort of tiger wood to me with tan grain blending next to dark brown. It is beautiful stuff and both handles are made from it. Further, the karda has an edge hardness of close to 60 Rc. They both are excellently done and are tools/weapons in their own right. Kumar is taking more time and collecting bonuses.

The scabbard is done by our new sarki with no name, the best in Nepal, from Udhaipur, and he has tooled it with a monkey, wolf or coyote I don't know which, and has put on Kumar's 6 pointed star along with some other embellishments. He is not an artist but he is one hell of a sarki. Frog is HI superfrog improved version.

The Uncle Bill's best buy price to get you acquainted with Nepal's best sarki with no name is $125 delivered to your door. You will have to wander far and wide to find this much rig for so little price.

Call or email if interested.

James, you may not believe this but when I saw that star on the scabbard I said to myself, this rig belongs to James Mattis and put your name on the rig.

Jim Clifton, you see what I mean about karma and the knives talking to you!!!

Sold to James Mattis after I had already put his name of the rig.

I'll ship it tomorrow, James, priority mail and many thanks.

There will a big loaf of challah bread coming out of the baker's oven Friday morning, that will never know what hit it!!!

Or more likely next Friday, giving some allowance for the postal service. There's a Chris Reeve Tanto that can do the honors this week if necessary.

Would it be possible to get a new scabbard made for a previously bought khuk by this new sarki? It looks like he's fixd my main complaint with the ride of my GS. The frog sits down too low and then the handle swings way out from my side. It tends to get in the way of my arms when I walk. Normally not too much of a problem since I have the blade out cutting something

, but it is annoying.

Now, that's just what I've been looking for -- a 2# 18" AK. The chakma handle looks a little wierd in this picture (not that I doubt its beauty as it would be seen in person), and I don't really need the decorated scabbard, but those have practically nothing to do with what I do want and for what I do want this is just about perfect.

How about the hardness of the chakma? Do you ever test that? It would seem to me that the ideal chakma would be harder than the edge of the khukuri and polished to a near mirror finish. That way it would not contribute to any edge irregularity and would polish the edge instead of being affected by the edge of the knife. Am I on track or all wet?

I virtually never see the bargains first, but man would I have liked to this time!

Oh, I don't doubt that, uncle. I can keep waiting till I see what I want. This one is darn close, though. It may be a hair light for an 18" AK, but not by so much that I wouldn't have jumped on it if I had got there first.
