I know the whole "Nessmuk trio" thing has been debated here before, but I was going thru my stuff the other night and I got to thinking about different options. As I laid out my personal "trio" I I totalled up what they cost me:

Custom canadian belt knife - $100.00

Case XX Trapper w/ sheath - $45.00

Tractor Supply hatchet - $6.99

So for @ $150 I had my " trio". My question is what would your "trio" be at $50, $150, and unlimited. I hope everyone can have some fun with this. Don't just stick to the conventional three tools, but use any three YOU like.

A nessmuk by Me

A norlund hatchet ($2 at flea market) needs a new handle.

Case 1965-1969 era redbone moose $30 used.

Total about $40

Here are my Nessmuk blades untill I get my new Fiddleback Nessie :D

I think the Buck Nessmuk was around $120
and Case Moose was around $50.00

I need to add my GB Mini Hatchet to a photo which cost me around $75.00 back some time ago

I would have to go thisaway:

Wetterlings large hunter's axe - about $30
Four inch Mora - about $10
Victorinox Soldier - I bought mine for ten bucks new at a gun show. I don't know what they usually go for.

That's fifty bucks right there. Of course, if I had a hundred and fifty bucks to spend...I guess I could buy a new hat and belt as well?

Awesome Nessie! I have one coming from Fiddleback in desert ironwood, can't wait! :D

Both knives are in the finishing room. Both are full tang. Both are going to include a custom firesteel. And both feel great in the hand. A little more polish to the blade this time though.

Mike's is in East Indian Rosewood. So dark and beautiful. One of my favorite woods to work with. I've got another Rosewood beauty on the bench now.

Great pics too Mike.

Myakka, your Buck Nessmuk is a new sight for me. Awesome! I never knew they made one!

I'm hopefully getting a receiving another fixed blade in the mail that someone put a better edge on, which might replace my Mora. That's a tough blade to dethrone though!

Ontario 12 inch machete 20.00
Vich huntsman 25.00
total 120
having the tools you like....Priceless

Reeves double-bit hatchet $150

Schrade 96OT 2-blade Trapper $45

Buck Mini Alpha Hunter $65

Trying to be authentically lightweight like George Washington Sears = $260

Holy Carp...I'm carrying $250+ in blades on my lightly equipped hikes?

and to think I'm just waiting for the scratch to get a real Nessmuk...

Thanks Andy. The Barkie is a very nice blade. Gonna resheath it though. Don't trust the one that came with it.

Typical of the older ones. Just not up to the knife's standard. The newer ones are awesome. Get a good sheath. A bad sheath on a good knife is unexcusable. JMHO.;)
