Hey everyone! I’ve been working my ass off recently on my first “run” of knives (working on more than one at the same time) and I’m a little worried about getting them sold once they’re complete (not necessarily for a profit, but more so to just make back some of the money I’ve invested in equipment). I’ve sold 3 knives so far but they’ve all been to close friends/family so I’ve never had to deal with actually seeking someone out that’s interested in purchasing. I have an Instagram account dedicated to my work that I post on regularly but I don’t have a ton of followers (~150) so I’m not sure if I’ll get a bite on that platform.

What are the best places for a relatively new maker to sell? I’ve heard good things about Etsy but I’m not too sure about that either. I’d prefer to just sell on Instagram but as I said previously, my following is still pretty small. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Unless you paid for a knifemaker membership here, it's against the forum rules to discuss selling your knives. This protects the value of membership to those who've paid for it. The shopping center won't be happy for you to do market research about how to sell your sunglasses in front of their paying tenant Sunglass Hut who might not be happy either.

Make knives that look great and perform great, then people will want them.

Thank you milkbaby. It takes a Knifemaker level membership to discuss selling. Once you have one at that level, you can not only discuss selling, you can sell in The Exchange.

I'll close this thread.
