I have no idea if this is legal , if not mod. can delete .KMG is first as I know who used this so ........
Well , Ken H> as I already wrote it took me half hour to make this .Half hour because I use 20mm thick steel .... that is what I have around , but half inch will be right ....probably ? I drill hole for axis right thru the plate , then drilled hole for tracking wheel bolt , they are in line so that is all matter .I have somewhere uni ball bearing I can not find them . . .nothing new in my shop :D This one on picture is from my knife sharpening tool :)
I will use this for my first / two wheel/ grinder ..gas ...spring no more in my shop ...ratchet is best .That HSS piece is where tracking bolt will push , I drilled 10mm hole and my hammer ordered to this 10.2mm HSS to go inside that hole :D I use very hard bolt / from engine piston connecting rods/ so on my first grinder they make hole in soft steel , now :p I will use that rod with spring so spring can not bend in side ... when they bend they don t transfer full power ,so full power from spring where I need it ;)
Here is some picture of what I done so far , I need new wheel and that is that .

Neat! I saw that on the KMG website and although it looks real neat I wonder if it actually improves anything on the grinder?

Daniel.

On that new KMG grinder , yes it improves.....when you grind steel and you want to move belt in side little on grinder with ratchet with ordinary tracking wheel you raise or lower tension on belt because movement of tracking wheel is significant but you have spring/gas tension on belt which will compensate movement of wheel .On this setup movement of wheel is much less so tension on belt remain almost same .... Not necessary but it is so cool :)
And it's easier to do this then ordinary one ;)

As long as you're not copying the design for resell there is no problem in USA in building for your own use. Looks good - I don't think I'll be using that design for reworking my grinder. If I do put a rigid ratchet type belt tension I'll have to rework the tracking adjustment system I've got.
