Neutral shoe polish on a blade??

I have tried all the usual hand applied and even Dremel applied polishes but still find my mirror finish blades get smudged really instantly upon touching. Figured I would just live with it. Then a while back someone suggested shoe polish. Well I finally did it. Used Kiwi neutral paste wax. It has helped with smudges like nothing else has.
But I have some questions
It looks a little cloudy on the blade no matter how lightly applied. Am I doing something wrong or is this how it is with shoe polish?
Will I get a wax build up? I can take it off I think with Flitz or Simixhrome.
Anything else maybe instead of shoe polish which I haven't tried?
I think the only 2 things I have not tried as a final top coat is pure Carnauba car wax or Renn wax.

All thoughts appreciated.

Shoe polish does get a little cloudy. Kiwi is what I used on my dress shoes in the military, and it's a fine art to keep it really shiny on shoes for very long (more than a few hours, anyway). And it stays relatively soft, so it does smudge. More so, when it gets warm. And it will build up over time, making it more cloudy in appearance, requiring stripping and re-application. I'm sure Flitz/Simichrome would take it off.

I'd think if you want to wax or otherwise coat the blade with something, wax made for car finishes would be better than shoe polish. And I've heard a lot of good things about Renaissance Wax, though I've never tried it (kinda pricey). It's marketed to collectors of fine antiques and such, for minimizing smudges and protecting delicate patina'd finishes.

I use Renn wax on my guns so it should work on knives. Renn wax is the bomb on firearms.
