I had to good fortune to draw one of the Nevada Elk tags this year. I've been trying to draw one of the Nevada elk tags for 20 years. Coming from Montana ( where we hunted Elk every day of the season) that has been hard for me. So I decided to build a knife befitting of a Nevada elk hunt. Now I have to get my sorry out of shape butt in gear and get ready.

Here you go not the normal spit and polish. This one is made for & going to get some hard use this year.

4" Blade of 52100. Amber stag. Nickel hardware. Heavy duty 8-9 oz sheath.

Good for you Bruce! That looks to be a sweet knife ready for lots of hunting fun. As someone who hails from the east coast, I only got to hunt elk for a couple years when I lived in the Rockies of Idaho in the mid-70s. It made a lasting impression on me. I dreamt about the rut for some years following. Very primal. I truly hope I get to live/hunt in the wilds again someday before I shuffle off to Buffalo, so I understand your tenacity and sense of good fortune.

A quick question about your knife. You stated the hardware as nickel. Is it nickel silver or straight nickel? If straight nickel, mind sharing a few words as to your impressions working with it and its overall wear-ability on a knife?

All the best, Phil

Thanks Jeff & Phil

Phil, Thanks. I believe it is nickel with 18% silver. I know that is even getting $$. I was up will my son and son inlaw late last nite discussion our pre plans for the hunt. This is the part I really enjoy. Getting with these two boys to plan and toss around stories.
