I did not see this posted so thought that I would do so. The below link is a link to a article on Nevada knife laws at both the state and county/municipal local levels. It includes links to the actual laws/ordinances too. I hope that Nevada members and visitors find it useful.

Note that any automatic knife with a blade length under 2" is legal.

Reading Reno city ordinance 8.23.140 it appears that if literally interpreted it is illegal to have a sharp steak or kitchen knife with a blade longer than 2" in a city park. I wonder how many picknickers are aware of this! Also how many carriers of small pocket knives with blades longer than 2" are aware that they are in violation of the ordinance. IIRC this was originally passed due to one park having a problem with a group of teenagers openly playing with their knives while hanging out there. Not particularly well thought out wording IMO.

On Earth day there was a knife vendor set up in a city park who was in violation of the ordinance. Selling cheap Damascus blade knives, presumably the Pakistani Damascus blades I have read poor reviews of here. He also had even cheaper plain steel blade knives, all with blades longer than the ordinance allows. Obviously that ordinance is highly selectively enforced it appears.
