anyone live in NV. I'm wondering about openly carrying a fixed blade on your belt. I'm really courious, becuse I want to but I'm not sure, and if it's illegal and a LEO sees it, it's right there. The thing is, I allways see these bikers, biker gang bikers, with big ass fixed blades just on their belts, not buck knives in a sheath, I mean like Rambo knives. just at the gas station or grocery store. I know some of these guys are felons, but it seems no matter what size as long as it's not concealed is OK. Just want to make sure. Or maybe nobody cares and thats how it works around here. Any LEOs out there, or NV residents that know for sure?

Here is the full text of the law.

Nevada - Crimes against public health and safety. 202.350.

(a) Manufacture or cause to be manufactured, or import into

commonly known as switchblade knife...
(b)... carry concealed upon his person any...
(2) Dirk, dagger or machete... [A 1995 amendment
substituted "machete" in this subsection for "dangerous
knife."]
(4) Knife which is made an integral part of a belt
buckle...
2. It is unlawful for a person to possess or use a:

5. As used in this section...
(e) "Trefoil" means an instrument consisting of a metal
plate having three or more radiating points with sharp
edges, designed in the shape of a star, cross or other
geometric figure and used as a weapon for throwing.

I see no size limitations in the above law. So as long as it is not concealed you are GTG.

I would double check with Clark County Ords though. Clark seems to always have a stricter law set then the overal state.

I'm In Las Vegas most of the time and thats where I see the biker gang guys with the big knives. like hells angels, and Pagens and all that. So the key words in that law seem to be Carry concealed upon his person, I'm gonna start rocking out my Strider FBs if thats the case. I might call the sheriff first, I tried today and couldn't get a good ansewer, but it seemed like it was legal but they didn't want to admit it.

I'm fairly certain Clark is far stricter; although I can't find the darned law at the moment. For folding knives it is under 3 inches. Not what you asked but what I know...

As a side note aspiring to mimic the Pagans and Hell's Angels is no way to go through life.

You might be in luck.

http://ordlink.com/codes/clarknv/index.htm

12.04.180 Concealed weapons prohibited without permit.

It is unlawful, within the unincorporated area of Clark County, for any person to carry upon his person a concealed weapon of any description, including a knife with a blade of three inches or more, a gun, pistol, revolver or other firearm, capable of being concealed, without first having received written permission therefor from the sheriff. (Ord. 242 § 18, 1965)

Although that is just the county...not the city of Las Vegas, Henderson or N. Las Vegas which may have additional restrictions.
