Never owned a Spyderco, should I start with a Delica or go PM2?

Never owned a Spyderco but looking to buy my first one, but not sure if I should cut to the chase and buy the PM2 right from the start.

That sounds like a good idea, its a definite must have.

TBH I own a few spydies and the pm2 isn't one of them. On the short list though ;)

Do you think the Spyderco knives you own are better than the PM2, or you liked the feel better?

Depends on your budget and the size of knives you like to edc. Personally for me I like a 2.75-3 inch blade. I recently picked up a delica ffg off the exchange here and love it. It is thin and light and vg-10 takes a laser edge effortlessly. If you like a larger knife then you should probably go straight for the pm2, you already have it on your mind so I doubt the curiosity will go away. You can't go wrong either way.

Two very different lock types to consider as well. My recommendation would be PM2 first, Delica second.

... and then a camo PM2 and then a ZDP Delica and then a black PM2 and then a Super blue Delica and then... and then... no end in sight

Sage 1 is my favorite Spyderco. It's my primary EDC. Next would be the PM2.

The Sage 1 has carbon fiber scales and liner lock, the PM2 has G10 and compression lock. Steel is the same on both (S30V). The difference for me is the ergo. The Sage just feels more refined. The PM2 is more rugged.

As a first Spydie you can't go wrong with either knife. More than likely you'll end up with the other eventually.

If you buy the Delica first you'll still end up buying the Para 2, save yourself the time and money and go Para 2 right away!

In my mind, they are very different knives. Delica is more of a easy carry light user, the pm2 is tougher and larger. In my uses, the delica fits most of my needs and is a lot cheaper. The lock is easy to use, it takes and holds a nice edge, and you can get lots of different colors. I would start there, and then you can always get a second knife later. (And third....etc) lol

The Delica was one of my first Spydies. Good blade length and ergos. It gets my vote

Delica is half the price, disapears in the pocket, thinner, nice size blade. Lock back

Pm2 is compression lock a little bigger, more money, more fun to play with, harder use folder then the delica.

Depends on your price point and what your looking to do with it. I have them both, both excellent.

And if it's a sprint run it's super special :D

:thumbup:I have a dpx hest in my polaris 500 atv and sometimes carry delica or sog in my pocket. I've used them to cut tow rope when I sunk her in a nice size puddle(deep).

And then the M390 para and then the full size military and then the full size military in TI...
