NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE

I just bought this knife and thought maybe it was a fake at first because I have never seen a San Mai Blade that is coated. Is this a rare thing?

Sorry, nephron, you bought a counterfeit. Unfortunately, many of the Custom Series were faked. You can see others in my Counterfeit, anyone? thread.

They did make a San Mai Talwar in the custom series, but that one is a counterfeit for sure.

Yea I looked in the catalogs after the fact instead of the usual before purchase scenario. A part of me said no there was never a coated SM Blade and yet I still bid. The OP apologized and said he would send my money back from Paypal. Luckily he is just starting out and does not want a negative feedback so it looks like I have missed the bullet again(fingers crossed). Rather not go toe to toe with Paypal and or credit card company but you gotta do what you gotta do.

The blade was bad enough (San Mai coated??)the wood should have been the final straw. My only feeble attempt at looking not totally dumb as follows:it was a buy it now so I didn't think I had time to look to far into it. I did see a couple pix online so I took for granted it was just rare, right after bidding I put this thread up and then went through the archives and could not find it. With great trepidation I went next to here and then quickly to get it annulled. You win some and lose some(I got lucky though), I have gotten a 12" SM MT for $100.00(really bad pix, another fingers crossed, sold for $550.00) and a FREE Colt 19991A1 that I still own.

Meh, it happens from time to time. I'm extremely familiar with CS's stuff, past and present, so it was very easy to spot this as a fake, but I've almost been taken in by fakes of other comanies' work with whom I'm not as familiar.
