Never seen this crkt before

Saw that too and IMO for being made in China it is ridiculously expensive.

Otherwise it looks cool

I have one, they have been around a couple of years. James Williams designed this as well as the Hissatsu. I was at first concerned about the tsuka area unwrapping, I asked James about this before pulling the trigger on this waki sized knife, It is coated with some kind of resin and pretty durable. I've been told the steel is similar to 01.

i bought the hiisatsu folder a feew weeks back and have worked with it and oiled it. It is a sping assist and is now my favorite. The blade is an amazing design and I can open and close it one handed very quickly. It's eay to index and bring into play. I love mine. My local dealer got it for a little above $70..........a great buy for me.

I really want to get one, but I'm not sure on such a big knife without a cross guard or even a finger choil to keep the hand from slipping off. It can't accept a lanyard, can it? Maybe I can remove the handle material and do my own wrap and put a lanyard on it.

It's either this, or the Junglee short sword (I want a "TACTICAL!" short sword, 12-17" blade, kydex/plastic sheath). The Junglee is about half the price and has a safer handle, but I can't find any info on the thickness of the blade, and I'm wary of AUS-8 on such a big blade... There are pictures on here of the Hisshou after having chopping some small tree branches and pierced through a steel drum a few times without a blemish. It's not advertised as a multi-purpose tool, but I'll bet it can take some abuse.

I also hear the Hisshou comes barely sharper than a butter knife, though. CRKT is also making an intermediary between the Hissatsu and the Hisshou now, called the Shinbu. Has a 9.25" blade. I'm hoping they do an even bigger version. 17"+ blade, enough room on the grip for two hands, and some way to keep your fingers from slipping up on the blade. I can hope. :D

This one has been on my "want list" for some time. No real burning reason, other than that it looks cool and would fill a gap between my swords and large chopping knives. Kaizen1: Did your blade come sharp, or was it dull like Vertebrae mentioned about some of them?
