Never thought I'd go this route

I have always bypassed orange gripped knives like the plague. Then I sat and thought about it. High vis. if dropped in snow, on a forest floor, in tall dead grass, twilight etc. Why did I, and still primarily do, like dark or camo schemes ? I have zero desire to have a knife fight or any goofy Ninja B.S. And I have no concern that someone outdoors sees my knife. So why the previous aversion ? Dunno, but I am starting to like orange on a knife. I tried to find a previous thread about orange gripped knives here somewhere, but couldn't find it.

I like blue even better. Virtually nothing in nature is blue (if you drop an orange knife in autumn...) and it doesn't burn the eyes as much in spite of being so visible. But orange is nice too. :)

I like green knives...but mostly because I just like green as a color. :p

I understand completely. I just can't force myself over the hump from aesthetics to practicality. I'm sure I'll come around, probably after losing a nice knife.

You'll know when you've made it over the hump because you'll start seeing the beauty in the functionality. :)

Good for you!! I like orange (and other bright colors) because it's easier to see and find. My Esee-4 is also OD green and Orange, thinking I'll get an Esee-3 in the same this summer. The green blade will vanish even easier then black IMO but that orange handle sure shows up nice! :D

I just add a Blaze Orange 550cord lanyard to my dark handled knives !
Here is a pic of my boy's knives (the Mora's are nice & bright & I added a piee of Orange 550cord to the Case knives)

Orange is good :D

I was just thinking the other day "why are all my flashlights OD green?" When I need it I wish it were yellow...my next purchases.
I can see my knife handles go this way too.

Interesting point and something to ponder. This high vis. or non natural colour thing is new to me. Still processing it all.

Yupper, I like the new ESEE colour scheme actualy. But it seems that for every one that likes it, there are three that want to yack up their lunch over them. Oh well, we are a fickle bunch. :D

My flashes of intelligence appear to happen less often than yours. :D

Funny how it just hits a guy. And this year for some reason I am paring down, or trying to, what I REALLY need for cutting tools. My knives are getting a little more serious (outdoor utilitarian) and less in number. Hard to stop buying the fun stuff though.

I love orange handled knives - easy visibility and takes away from the tacticool/military look of black and camo knives. In semi-related note: I see people at the archery range shooting black or camo shafted arrows all the time! Good luck finding that when you miss or pass-through your target!

The new Bright Green and Orange is interesting and a bit tempting. There ain't no loosing them! Natural greens are my favorite color. Thats one of the reasons why I went with the OD green Esee-4.... Might be nice to have a different blade color for my Esee-3, so I may just get me one of those Florecent green and Blaze Orange ones. If the Green bothers me, I can always strip it. ;) :D

Over the last year I've bought between 13 and 15 new arrows. All grey carbon fiber shafts (becase I couldn't get bright colors) but I made sure that all the feathers are Bright Orange and green. Some of the ~$15 arrows came in descent colors and Camo. Loosing one of my $6 arrows (price of arrow with tip) would hurt, loosing a few of those expencive Camo arrows could bankrupt some one. High Viz for me thank you very much!!

I've even gone this route with my dog !!!

Darn good idea considering how some A.T.V.ers fly around, and less chance of being shot in the fall. I was told once that if your dog gets lost on you, to leave some of your clothing there. Give then dog a spot to reference and wait for you. Sound feasible or B.S. ?

Dogs get lost?
Cute photo, but that dogs already white, potentially more visible than orange. I suppose it's better than spray paint or wrapping him in orange para cord :o)
