Nevr-Dull on Sebbie Washers?

Hey again guys;
The washers on my Large Classic have started showing some discoloration, but I've heard that utmost caution must be excercised when cleaning them so as not to mar the >0.005" tolerances.
I've often used Nevr-Dull to get spot rust off of my blades, including that of my Seb, but I wonder how it would treat the washers. I'm pretty sure phosphor-bronze is porous, so I don't know if the ND would affect the lubrication at all.
Has any body tried this before?

discoloration should not affect the function of the knife opening or closing. Just make sure you have a spot of lube on both sides of the washers. Don't worry about the washers' color:)

Let the washers wear in naturally. The more you use it the smoother it gets.

you can't see them when the knife is assembled anyway.

Not sure where I heard it first, but you should only put lube on one side of the washers. The side that sits on the blade. I'm not exactly sure why but I did check with CRK and they confirmed this.

I know Seb owners are detail-minded but this is a bit much.

After a hard day of use mine gets full of mud and salt
and fish guts and rope fiber etc. I try to keep it rinsed
and wash it out with soap and water at days end.

If I can somehow manage to steer a couple drops of oil
between the Ti slabs on the blade tang with these tired
old eyes I'm a happy camper. I don't know how you control
which side of the washers get oiled without a take-down.

This is my Lg BG42 Seb, must be ten years old now.
It's in wonderful shape and I only hope I don't lose it.
I check the bolts often and they are always tight.
I might take it apart around Christmas and clean it for fun.
I'm sure the washers will be fine, they always are..

I'm a bad sebbie dad, I use flitz polish on the washers (probably more agressive then never dull) AND I grease both sides of the wahsers.

Great post 440..... i know we all have our own ways of service but the fact of the matter is it all works...any kind of oil works well....when mine gets to dirty i wash it good in the sink with dish soap and hot water...blow it out with air and oil it down.

Yeah. The other side doesn't ever move so lube is pointless.

I only use the grease on the blade side of the washers too. Good to know that slight corrosion won't affect performance.

Thanks for the help, guys. I suppose the Seb is designed to subject to maintenance of many different styles and intensities.
