Thanks to Don Hanson the III for some "hamon mak'in" tips here as well as some other of you fellows out there. This is one has a 9 1/4 inch blade and is hafted in figured walnut with mild steel fire blued guard and a nickel silver collar.... I got my JS stamp upside down so it sorta looks like "SP" for special person I guess  that'd be me alright...

compliments and regards, mitch

Mitch, this is a class act all by itself. Really great lines, and good choice of materials for a nice color contrast.

I don't like it!
I think you should send it to me, and I will dispose of it (I promise :D ).
Beautiful knife!
Elegant, and simply beautiful!
Excellent choice of materials!

Thanks for the compliments guys, glad to hear you like it!
While taking the photo of this knife, I had it laying up next to this one: " Don Hastings Bowie, found at a funeral....." ,also with a walnut handle. It's really something to see a knife from so long ago and realize how much things have changed in so many areas such as fit and finish, yet blade geometry on this old Hastings knife is on the money for sure. And still just as sharp as Hell. I'd like to have met Don, he sure made a good knife.

regards, mitch

you did a nice job on that one!! I love the blued guard. How will the color hold up if it were a beater?

" if it were a beater?" Hell man it IS A BEATER!! LOL!

I hope somebody will use it! To be truthful, I suppose it will wear off right fast but that'd be ok for me as I like things to look well used in the first place. My dad had my grand dad's old Remington model 11 re-blued back in the 60's and I couldn't see why. To me it looked like Charlie, well worn. I rode many miles around those Oklahoma oil fields in his old turquoise blue Chevrolet Apache pickup sharing the front seat with that old 12 ga. I hope I look that good when I get old... some day that is. :)

You and I share the same love for warn in friends :) I look forward to seeing some of the knives that I have made 10 years from now. Cant duplicate that aging process :)

Mitch, you have entirely TOO MUCH of that nice walnut! I'm still amazed at the figure of the walnut on my bowie. This one is very nice as well. :)

Very nice Mitch! Very clean and elegant lines. I really like the way the hamon came out too.
Great job!!
